The tickets are sold out for my travel dates in the official government website. Are my tickets Circuit 2 tickets guaranteed?
Can I change my return train if when I pick up my last-minute tickets I am assigned an very early entry time?
The answer is
You are responsible to go in person to the train station and make this change. The train company may charge you 10% + difference in fare to change your train ticket to an earlier departure. However, if you do change your train to an earlier time, you will loose the transfer to you hotel. We hire the train company to take you to your hotel once you arrive in Cusco. This is called "door-to-door" service. If the train company changes your return train to an earlier time, you are responsible to hire your own taxi back to your hotel.
Can I also add the mountain of Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain to my last-minute tour?
The answer is
The last-minute tickets for Machu Picchu are not just entrance tickets—they’re a complete service designed to support both travelers and the local community of Aguas Calientes. This package includes:
The reason this package is required is deeply rooted in local economic and social concerns.
Historically, all proceeds from digital ticket sales go directly to Lima, the capital of Peru. Unfortunately, very little of that revenue returns to Aguas Calientes, the gateway town to Machu Picchu. As a result, the town has struggled with poor infrastructure, no hospital, and underfunded schools, despite being the entry point to one of the world’s most visited archaeological sites.
In response, the local community organized protests, demanding a fairer share of tourism revenue. As a compromise, the government allowed 600 Circuit 2 tickets to be sold daily in person in Aguas Calientes, in order that tourists support the local economy by:
This policy ensures that more of the tourism income stays in the community—supporting local jobs and helping improve the town’s services and infrastructure.
By purchasing this package, you are not only securing a last-minute entrance to Machu Picchu—you are also contributing directly to the well-being of the local people who help make your visit possible.
You may cancel this tour with a penalty of 120 USD per person if you cancel with a 72-hour advanced notice. This is because the bus tickets are not refundable and the train company only allows cancellations by paying a penalty
If you cancel with less than 72 hours advanced notice, no refund of any kind can be made regardless of the reason of your cancellation. Sorry, but we are firm on this as the train, bus tickets (4 of them required) are not refundable. In addition, the work to secure a private guide, the bus tickets, the train tickets, the taxi, and the bus to the entrance, the taxes and the accouting costs do not give us any room to give you any refund if you tell us last minute.
You may change the tour date only, if you give us a 72 hour notice. And you must pay a 30USD penalty per person to change your tour reservation to a new date.
In extremely high demand dates, usually during Peruvian holidays like Peru's Independence day around July 28 or when Peruvian high school students go to Machu Picchu as part of their graduation during the months of September and October , there is a 1% chance you may have to stay one more night in Aguas Calientes without advanced notice. There are only 500 circuit 2 tickets available daily, and In situations when there are more tourists than tickets available, you will have the choice to either take a Circuit 1 Machu Picchu Mountain ticket or Circuit 3 Royalty ticket or Circuit 3 Huayna Picchu ticket to keep the tour to 2-days, or you will have to stay one additional night in Machu Picchu village to get your circuit 2 entrance ticket. In such situations, you are still responsible to pay for your additional hotel costs in Machu Picchu village. Since we do this every day, we usually warn you ahead of time if this may be a possibility, but the first occurrence takes us all by surprise and it may be the case that it happens with you. Please be understanding.
